An assessment is required prior to treatment to determine whether the lesion is appropriate for cosmetic removal. Lesions showing suspicious changes will be referred for further investigation before any procedure takes place.

After treatment, it's common to feel a mild warming sensation, a bit like sunburn, which usually settles within a few hours. Some redness, swelling and tenderness can follow, but this typically eases within a day or two. If a local anaesthetic injection was needed, you might also notice some minor bruising or swelling around the injection site.

As the skin begins healing, the treated area may feel dry, tight or slightly sensitive. It's important not to pick, scratch or prematurely remove any crusting that forms, as this can slow healing and increase the risk of scarring or changes in pigmentation. Keeping the area protected from sun exposure during this time also helps support a smooth recovery.

Healing looks a little different depending on the type of lesion treated. Pigmented lesions, such as sun spots, freckles or benign pigmentation, tend to darken over the first 24 to 48 hours before a light crust forms and gradually flakes away, usually within one to three weeks. Raised lesions, including skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses and benign moles, will generally dry out, form a protective crust and separate from the skin naturally, usually within two to four weeks.
